After suffering first loss of the campaign at Brisbane Road, Orient want to hit back against the Magpies

Leyton Orient head coach Ian Hendon believes his side can get back to winning ways and put a disappointing month firmly behind them when Notts County visit Brisbane Road on Saturday.

The O’s endured a frustrating September, losing twice in League Two, scoring just four times in five outings, and failing to win any of their matches.

When you consider the amount of chances they have created, they probably should have found the net at least twice that.

After losing 2-1 to Carlisle United at Brisbane Road on Tuesday night they slipped to fifth in the table, three points behind leaders Wycombe Wanderers.

But Hendon is still positive and believes everything will look a lot better if they manage to defeat County this weekend.

He said: “I am quite happy with how my team is set up and the performances we are putting in. If we get a win on Saturday we can move on from this defeat against Carlisle.

“September is out of the way now and we are not far off where I wanted to be. We set a target for 10 games and we are there or thereabouts.

“Notts County are a good footballing side so we will set up to play against them, but they will be playing a very good footballing side in us, so it should be a good game this weekend.”

The first two months of the campaign have been quite contrasting for the O’s with five league wins in August, followed by five games without a victory in the division in September.

Hendon insists that there is no need to panic about Orient being without a triumph since August 29 and hopes they can end that on Saturday against the Magpies.

With the amount of chances the Brisbane Road outfit are creating, it only seems like a matter of time before everything clicks.

“There are teams in this league that may well get a hammering from us. I don’t know if it will be on Saturday because we’re coming up against a tough side, but I am certainly looking to win the game,” added Hendon.

“My first two months have been from one extreme to the other! But we have lost two matches in 10 and won five in that time. For me it has been a good start, I think maybe some people got carried away.

“But I never did, like I said after we got the five victories in a row, it was just a case of us being five games down with another 41 to go. I am very happy with where we are at, but disappointed with the result against Carlisle.”
