Accrington Stanley visit east London this weekend with Orient aiming to continue their three-match unbeaten run

Leyton Orient boss Ian Hendon is looking for his side to build on their win last weekend when Accrington Stanley visit Brisbane Road on Saturday.

The O’s beat Morecambe 1-0 at Globe Arena thanks to a first half goal from Jack Payne, which came after he charged down a clearance by Ryan Edwards.

It earned the east Londoners all three points and means they are now on a three-match unbeaten run.

Hendon’s side have faced some tricky customers during that period, playing Oxford United and Luton Town before facing the Seasiders.

Stanley are likely to be a difficult opponent as well with them sitting one position behind Orient in the League Two table.

“It is definitely something to build on,” said Hendon about last weekend’s win at Morecambe.

“We have had some tough games and it is a little bit of a relief to get that victory.

“Football is about habits. We perform well at home and it was nice to come away, especially to Morecambe because it is so far, keep a clean sheet and win 1-0.

“That is a great scoreline, especially away from home and we are looking forward to Accrington Stanley now.”

Orient’s success last weekend was achieved off the back of their first clean sheet in the league since August.

They had struggled to stop conceding goals recently, but defended well at Globe Arena and Alex Cisak was only forced into action late on.

Hendon admitted his side didn’t dominate Morecambe, but was happy the work they put in on the training ground appeared to pay off on Saturday.

“I won’t stand here and say we outplayed them. We had a couple of chances, but they put the ball in and every game in this division is tough,” said the O’s head coach.

“They are all difficult matches, no matter who you play. We did need that bit of luck and we got it.

“We did a bit of work defensively after the Luton game and it is nothing the players don’t know, it is just reminders half of the time and just trying to eradicate those little mistakes and we did that at Morecambe.”
