The O’s head coach reveals they will try to bring some more free agents to the club after signing Jean-Yves M’voto last month
Leyton Orient boss Ian Hendon admits he would love to add to his squad, but concedes it will be tough now the emergency loan window has shut.
The O’s were expected to do business before the deadline ended last Thursday (November 26).
Although they came close, a deal to bring a forward to the club collapsed late on to leave the east Londoners with four attacking options until January.
But they are continuously looking to see if any more free agents are available like they did with defender Jean-Yves M’voto last month.
Hendon said: “I’d love to bring lots of players to the football club, simple as that.
“I am happy with the squad of players I have got. I would like additions, but that is how it is.
“There are not that many out of contract players available to be honest, not that are going to be better than what we have got.
“We tracked Jean down and was working on him for a while and got him eventually. There might be a few more out there, we will be looking that’s for sure so let’s hope a few crop up.”
The addition of M’voto has been inspired with the defender helping make the O’s look a lot more solid at the back.
Since he arrived they have taken five points out of a possible nine despite playing over half an hour with 10 men against AFC Wimbledon last weekend.
Hendon praised the performance of the 27-year-old against the Dons, adding: “Jean’s organisation skills are why he is here.
“We chased him and chased him and got him in the end and that’s why. It was a position where we needed a big, strong one there.
“He organises and is at a good age in 27 and I thought he commanded and did really well against Wimbledon.”
With QPR defender Cole Kpekawa unavailable for the visit of Scunthorpe United on Saturday, M’voto will have another big part to play.
It is expected Orient captain Mathieu Baudry will line up alongside him and it is hoped the pair will strike up a fruitful partnership.
