Writer describes life in East End for Black History Month

An author will discuss her life growing up in the East End as a black women tomorrow as part of a series of events for Black History Month.
The free event at 6.30 on October 10 will see Dr Suzanne Scafe talk about the importance of creating archives to record the experiences of women.
Dr Scafe co-wrote the 1985 book The Heart of the Race: Black Women’s Lives in Britain.
The event is run by project worker Majeda Begum and will be held at Tower Hamlets Local History Library and Archives in Bancroft Road.
The archives library is collecting oral histories from Black and Asian women who have spent their lives in the borough.
These will form part of a new exhibition in Spring 2014.
