THE homless persons' charity Crisis is looking for a building in East London to be transformed into a centre offering Christmas cheer to the homeless.

The charity which is based in Whitechapel runs nine Crisis centres over the festive season where volunteers offer food and accommodation to nearly 2,000 homeless and vulnerable people, running from December 23 to 30.

It still needs two buildings from 30,000 to 60,000 square foot, with a mix of large rooms and smaller rooms, functioning water, electricity, gas and heating, a kitchen or space to install one and close to public transport links.

The charity's chief executive Leslie Morphy said: "Without the extraordinary generosity of building donors year in, year out, Crisis Christmas would not be possible. This year we have already found seven suitable buildings - we are now searching for our final two."

Anyone who can offer a suitable building should contact 0844 2510111.
