THE honest folk of London's East End handed in more than 7,000 lost items at bus and rail stations in the past 12 months.
The most commonly-forgotten objects were the 1,400 books, 1,000 bags and 980 mobile phones handed in at bus garages and Underground and DLR stations in Tower Hamlets, according to latest statistics from Transport for London.
Tower Hamlets was number nine in the 'top 10' for honesty out of the 33 London boroughs. Westminster was top with Lambeth and Brent close behind.
The number of items handed in to Lost Property offices across London rose by almost 200,000 over the last 12 months to April, an increase of nearly 15,000 items from the previous year.
