A CHARITY running community projects in the East End was launched at the House of Lords this week.

Swan Foundation, set up by a housing association, has run projects since the beginning of the year, but its launch was marked on Monday with a reception hosted by Lord Herman Ouseley.

Swan Housing approached Lord Ouseley, the former executive chairman of the Commission for Racial Equality, because of his interest in corporate social responsibility, according to their spokesman.

Nutrition classes for homeless singles parents are among the projects so far. The foundation has also supported schools in teaching pupils about issues such as racism and respect.

The Swan Group manages over 7,600 homes in East London, Essex and Suffolk.
