HOUSING bosses have won a prestigious national 'gold' award in the public housing industry for bringing families together from different backgrounds, beliefs and cultures in London's East End.

The top title for 'Building Cohesive Communities' in social housing was scooped by Old Ford Housing for its "unique intercultural approach" to the community, including organising Eid and Christmas parties on its estates.

Representatives from Old Ford were presented with their trophy from the Housing Corporation and a certificate by Housing Minister Caroline Flint... and £50,000 to spend on activities over the coming months.
