HUNDREDS of commuters had to be evacuated when Bank station on the London Underground was closed because of a fire alert during this-morning’s rush-hour.
Trains were not stopping on the Central and Northern lines or on the District and Circle at the connecting Monument station.
Emergency fire crews searched the station complex, but the alert was later found to have been caused by a faulty fire panel which engineers have since repaired.
Bank and Monument stations were reopened after 25 minutes at 9.30am, London Underground later confirmed.
