Hundreds of young people have had a go at free sports and competitions at one of the council’s Olympic youth sites, coming to an end on Friday.

Our photographer captured some of the youngsters in action at the Urban Adventure Base in Mile End Park this week.

Activities at the centre on Burdett Road include cycling, table tennis, basketball, kayaking and canoeing, fencing, roller blading and cooking.

It is one of the eight venues, part of Youth Sites 2012, in Tower Hamlets which has offered free sports, arts and cultural activities for youngsters aged 13 to 19 during the Olympic Games. Competitions have also been put on at the sites, which feature TV screens showing sporting action from the Olympic Park.

According to Tower Hamlets Council 671 young people took part in activities at the sites during the first week of the Olympics.
