POLICE investigating a fatal crash near the Blackwall Tunnel which killed a woman and injured two children—including a one-year-old baby—are looking for a motorist who fled from an earlier collision.

They named the woman on Monday as 57-year-old Pourosh Begum, from Tower Hamlets in East London.

She died at the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel three days after the car she was in crashed on the Blackwall Tunnel southern approach in Blackheath at 10.50pm on July 21.

Pourash was in a Nissan Micra with the one-year-old and a 14-year-old boy, who both had head injuries. The children have since left hospital.

Police are looking for the driver of a dark-coloured estate car involved in a collision with a Vauxhall Vectra shortly before the fatal crash.

The driver did not stop and is believed to have continued along the A102 northwards towards the tunnel around the time a Honda Jazz collided with the rear of the Nissan.
