Hunt for hit-run driver after girl, 11, is badly injured

SCOTLAND Yard is hunting a hit-and-run driver who knocked down an 11-year-old girl in East London then sped off. The girl has serious head injuries and remains in hospital more than a week after being struck down by a car in Romford Road, Forest Gate, at 1.25pm on December 30

SCOTLAND Yard is hunting a hit-and-run driver who knocked down an 11-year-old girl in East London then sped off.

The girl has serious head injuries and remains in hospital more than a week after being struck down by a car on the main A118 Romford Road at Forest Gate at 1.25pm on December 30, on the corner of Dyson Road.

She remains in hospital in a serious, but stable, condition.

Police investigators have obtained a partial image of a registration plate, beginning W707.’ The car is thought to be a dark-coloured, old style BMW or Volkswagen.

An appeal for witnesses has been launched this week for anyone in Romford Road at 1.25pm on December 30, or anyone with information about the car or driver, to contact traffic investigator Janet Baldwin at Scotland Yard on 020-7230 1745.
