FAMILY history buffs hoping to discover more about their East End connections have a chance to hunt through a vast archive of historic pictures this weekend.

The Island History Trust is throwing open its doors from 11am to 6pm both days to help people uncover their roots or simply enjoy looking at photos of the good old days.

The collections are indexed by name which is a boon for people tracing their family tree and hoping track down photographs of their ancestors.

Admission to the centre at the Docklands Settlement in East Ferry Road on the Isle of Dogs costs �2.

The event is held twice a year and trust members are on hand to offer tips to budding historians.
