A JELOUS killer who shot dead his disabled brother’s carer with a Mac-10 submachine gun in the street faces life behind bars after being convicted today at the Old Bailey of his murder.

The killing of Curtis Smith in London’s East End left a pool of blood on the pavement at Butcher’s Row in Limehouse.

The 36-year-old was gunned down on his first wedding anniversary outside Club Red in the early hours of Sunday morning, July 27, last year.

His killer, 30-year-old Andrew Denty, was convicted today of murder, possessing a firearm with intent to commit an offence and conspiracy to pervert justice by hiding the murder weapon.

A second man, Emmanuel Okot, 25, admitted conspiracy to pervert justice. The two are being sentenced on July 17.

SUBMACHINE GUN

The submachine gun was discovered in the overgrown garden of an empty house in south London. Police later searched Denty’s home in Bermondsey and uncovered an arsenal of weapons including a stun gun, cross bow and shotgun cartridges.

Det Ins Daniel Smith said after the verdicts: “Curtis’s employment as carer to Denty’s brother was to cost him his life.

“Denty despised Curtis because he was jealous, very possibly of the relationship he had with his brother.

“This festering hostility came to a head outside Club Red when Curtis was brutally gunned down—shot in the back of the head by a Mac 10 machine gun.”

The detective praised the witnesses who came forward who he said “helped to loosen the fear gunmen can hold over their community by taking a killer off the streets.”
