A jewellery maker from Bethnal Green has been crowned Britain's most creative designer-maker in a nationwide competition.

The judges were struck by the way Jenny Llewellyn mixes modern materials, such as silicone, with more traditional materials like silver. They said her sensitive approach to scale, proportion and use of colour transformed her work into something exuding beauty, which even glows in the dark.

Jenny, aged 28, who has a workshop at Pundersons Gardens, works with silicone and precious metals to create pieces inspired by the luminous colours, shapes and movement of creatures from the deep sea.

The Great British Makers campaign was run by e-boutique Seek and Adore and judged by a panel of experts.

Jenny will now have the opportunity to sell her work on the e-boutique free of charge for a year and receive publicity in a number of publications.
