Macmillan cancer support benefitted from coffee mornings across the East End last week which brought office workers together with MP for Poplar and Limehouse Jim Fitzpatrick.
Coffee mornings were held in several branches of Barclays banks including in Bethnal Green where 480 was raised. The mornings were part of Macmillan’s 22nd World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, which saw coffee being poured across the UK in an attempt to beat last year’s fundraising total of 630,000.
Jim Fitzpatrick, who sipped coffee at Barclays in East India Dock Road, said: “It has been fantastic to be part of the world’s biggest coffee morning. Macmillan does an amazing job supporting people whose lives have been devastated by cancer.
“I know every donation will make a difference”, he added.
