More than 50 young have been given free careers advice and guidance at a fair to help them into employment or education.
The group of 16-19 year-olds, who are classified as ‘NEETs’ because they are not in education, employment or training, attended the event at the Mile End Ecology Pavilion in Mile End Park.
Speaking at the event, 18-year-old Jitu Alom said: “I am so glad I came today, before I came I didn’t know what I was doing but today I spoke to some really friendly people.
“I have lots of information about my options so I can now choose what to do next.”
The fair, organised by Tower Hamlets Council, was held on Tuesday September 17, and aimed to help young people better understand the apprenticeship and training opportunities available to them.
Tower Hamlets young mayor, Mahdi Alam, added: “It’s good to actually come down and meet with the young people who are looking to make their next move in life.”
