Orient centre back has enjoyed working with new boss Justin Edinburgh since recently returning from groin injury

Josh Coulson is hoping to start again for Leyton Orient this weekend and help give their fans some early Christmas cheer with a win at Maidstone United.

The east Londoners travel to Kent with some form following back-to-back victories over Sutton United and Haringey Borough in recent weeks.

After going 15-games without a win in the National League, Orient are now looking to earn two in a row in the division.

Coulson, who returned from a groin injury to play 59 minutes at Haringey in the FA Trophy last weekend, said: “It’s up to the gaffer whether I play or not, but I will put myself out there to play every game.

“We have Maidstone on Saturday and it’s another 3G pitch, but hopefully it is the last one of the season!

“We will be focused and concentrated on getting a good result there and starting the Christmas period with a win.”

After finally getting success on a 3G surface last Saturday, following defeats at Sutton and Bromley earlier in the campaign, the O’s will hope to handle the Stones’ artificial pitch this weekend.

Boss Justin Edinburgh will be returning to Kent having managed Gillingham for 23 months and Coulson has enjoyed working with the new Orient head coach so far.

He added: “His record in management speaks for itself and in his playing career too, so when he came through the door we knew what to expect.

“I know people he knows anyway, so I knew what to expect and he’s come in and got the reaction he now wanted.

“The first game at Solihull Moors didn’t go too well, but it’s two wins out of two now and we’ll focus on doing well in the next one at Maidstone.”

Orient were not at their best against Haringey last weekend, but they did show decent character to come from behind and avoid an almighty banana skin in the FA Trophy.

Coulson is hopeful that will give them even more of a lift ahead of their last fixture before Christmas.

“It was a cup game so the result is the main thing and we’ve won 2-1,” said the on-loan Cambridge United defender.

“We were not happy with the performance and I think that’s obvious, but it is two wins in a row now and we should take that confidence into Maidstone.”
