Coulson ‘thankful’ for everything Mooney did for him

The ex-Cambridge United defender discussed his goal in the 3-1 win over Barnet
Josh Coulson paid tribute to former Leyton Orient club captain David Mooney this week for the way he helped him settle in at the National League outfit last summer.
The O’s confirmed earlier this month Mooney had left by mutual consent after falling down the pecking order this term.
Coulson, speaking after Saturday’s excellent 3-1 win at home to Barnet, praised the way the ex-Orient striker helped him when he first moved to E10 on loan from Cambridge United in July 2017.
He said: “What he did for this club is brilliant and when I first arrived, he helped me settled in so well.

“I have never seen anything like it. He is a good man and like I say, when I first come here I knew a couple of players and I had played against ‘Moons’ but I didn’t know him too well.
“Yet the way he helped me settle in was second to none and I can’t thank him enough for that and I just wish him all the best for what is next in his career.”

As mentioned, Coulson was reflecting on Mooney’s time at the club after their latest win in the National League.
The defender opened the scoring in the London derby between Orient and Barnet and admitted it was long overdue.
His last goal for O’s occurred on February 24 in the FA Trophy against Gateshead and he was thrilled to find the back of the net again.
Coulson hailed the heading ability of midfielder Charlie Lee, who nodded a cross by Jobi McAnuff across goal for the centre back to volley home at the back post and set Orient on their way to a sixth victory of the campaign.
“It is about time! 11 games it has taken me,” the 29-year-old said. “It was a great header back across goal by Charlie and I could read it like a book.
“They put a little man on Charlie, so I don’t think they realised how high he could jump. I knew it was coming and then it was a matter of putting it in the net.”
