The O’s are fifth in the National League table after seven games and one of only three sides still unbeaten

Justin Edinburgh was delighted to have so many positives to talk about after Leyton Orient’s 3-0 home win over Dover Athletic on Bank Holiday Monday.

After a goalless first half in E10, the O’s opened the scoring in the 50th minute when Jobi McAnuff’s cross deflected in off the Whites’ Kedell Daniel.

It was thoroughly deserved and Orient finished with a flourish as Josh Koroma slotted home for his second goal of the season before Matt Harrold powered a header into the net in stoppage time.

Edinburgh said: “I think it is the best performance from the start we’ve had under me. We played well against Sutton United (December 2017), but we were very controlled against Dover and really played some excellent football.

“We looked assured at the back and they can be a dangerous side on their day and they play an attacking formation and I thought they started both halves well, but we found our rhythm.

“I could speak about everyone, I really could. Obviously people will take the plaudits like Charlie (Lee) and Josh Koroma, but Macauley Bonne’s hold-up play was excellent – he didn’t miss a header in the air.

“The two full-backs (Myles Judd and Joe Widdowson) were excellent and Marvin (Ekpiteta), so a lot of positives and another pleasing thing was Matt Harrold getting a goal and for the home fans to see what Dale Gorman is all about.

“Dale will give us something different and he showed glimpses of what he can bring to the team.”

Although Gorman impressed off the bench, he will have to wait his turn because Lee and Craig Clay produced another top drawer display in the centre of midfield.

Both were outstanding against Dover, but especially the former Stevenage man who played the whole match despite getting through an hour at Gateshead.

Head coach Edinburgh praised the experienced midfielder after his man-of-the-match display, he said: “Charlie was superb and it was his best performance since he come back into the team.

“The pleasing thing was the fact he completed 90 minutes. He put in a good stint at Gateshead and picked up a knock, but he finished so strongly and I am delighted for him.”

Orient had over four thousand supporters inside the stadium for the Bank Holiday Monday clash and they enjoyed themselves.

The fans were in fine voice come the end of the match with Rocking All Over The World roaring out of the PA system at full time.

Edinburgh added: “The supporters enjoyed themselves and they deserved to because we have had frustrating times at home.

“But I feel we are starting to really be brave in possession and the crowd feel that and it was an excellent performance with great support again.”
