The 48-year-old heaped more praise on his squad after outplaying Bromley for large parts despite only having 10-men

Leyton Orient head coach Justin Edinburgh was once again delighted with the work rate of his players despite seeing their recent renaissance end this afternoon at home to Bromley.

Louis Dennis scored the only goal of the game in the 22nd minute to hand the Ravens a 1-0 victory.

But the O’s played for 86 minutes with 10-men after Bondz N’Gala was harshly sent off when George Porter went down just outside the area.

Orient created chance after chance and Josh Coulson saw two headers cleared off the line and hit the post with another before Macauley Bonne missed a couple of superb opportunities at the end to salvage a point.

Edinburgh was still full of pride come full time, he said: “Our performance was a very good one and worthy of taking something from the game, but as we know in football, you don’t always get what you deserve.

“I am disappointed the players didn’t get anything from the game because they thoroughly deserved more than what they got today.”

Bonne, who had scored 14 times in all competitions before the match, wasted two of the O’s better chances.

The new man in the Orient hotseat backed his talented forward to bounce back from the disappointment, however, starting at Dagenham & Redbridge on Monday.

“We win and lose together and we’ve peppered them, we’ve had chances cleared off the line, we’ve hit the woodwork and the goalkeeper has made a great save,” said Edinburgh.

“One or two went wide and we probably expect ‘Macca’ to score them and that is what he expects of himself and he is bitterly disappointed, but he won’t go hiding and when the next one comes along I’ve no doubt he’ll dispatch it.”

With little time for O’s to recover ahead of visiting Dagenham on New Years Day, you imagine there will be a lot of weary bodies on Monday.

But Edinburgh is hopeful Orient will be able to go to Victoria Road and continue their recent good performances.

He added: “Playing with 10-men for so long wasn’t something we planned or needed and we have quick turn around now, but it is what it is.

“We knew it was the case before the game, but we played like we had 11, so I’m looking at it and hoping it hasn’t taken too much out of us.

“We dominated possession and kept them pinned in, so we didn’t have a lot of extra running to do. I’m confident my boys will be ready to go again at Dagenham.”

The new O’s head coach also paid tribute to the home crowd with Orient recording their best attendance of the campaign – 5,227.

Bromley brought 322 supporters, so just shy of five thousand people packed into Brisbane Road for the last game of 2017 to roar on the hosts.

Given all that has occurred over the last 12 months, it shows the loyalty and backing of the Orient fans to have so many in attendance.

Edinburgh said: “We are buying into this together and we are making a real good fist of things and we are looking forward.

“The crowd are playing a huge part and the players are responding to that and no one is leaving the stadium early.

“We are making Brisbane Road a tough place for people to come to and no one is enjoying coming here.

“You could see from Bromley’s celebrations they probably felt like they won a cup final and they were fortunate to do that, but we have to accept it and move on. The crowd have played a huge part and we have to keep it that way.”
