SINGER Kate Nash refused to be put off by a power cut as she performed an intimate gig in Bethnal Green last night.

She was seven songs into her set at the Working Men's Club in Pollard Row when the power cut out and she was forced to continue singing without a microphone.

But the technical difficulties did not stop her and she played a mini acoustic set featuring favourites Pumpkin Soup and Foundations.

The club's manager Warren Heath said: "The lights did not go off so she just sang acoustically. It was amazing really and it made for a really good evening.

"The power came back on 15 minutes later."

Nash was giving her audience a taster of her new album My Best Friend Is You which is released next month.
