The project organised by Trees for Cities invited children to help restore wildflower meadows and boost the number of plants at King Edward Memorial Park in Shadwell.

The charity which plants trees and landscapes urban spaces hopes to help prevent global warming while encouraging greater social cohesion in communities.

They try to make children in urban areas connect with the natural world instead of just seeing woodlands as a threat where danger lurks.

The children were invited to bring their teddies along for Tuesday's event which also included story telling and arts and craft activities.
