BUG-loving kids went face-to-face with creepy crawlies when they got their hands grubby digging around for wiggly worms and insects.
They also went pond dipping for newts and frogs and other slimy tiny creatures in the Ecology Park at Mile End in London’s East End over the Bank Holiday, like four-year-old Peter Neild (pictured).
The youngsters were keen to learn about the 155 types of spider and 179 types of beetle that live in the park, as part of Creepy Crawley week organised by Tower Hamlets park rangers.
Later in the week, the rangers plan late-evening bat tracking’ for older kids allowed to stay out after dark.
They meet Thursday at 8.30pm outside the Palm Tree Pub in Grove Road, Mile End, to go on the bat trail.
