A 21-YEAR-old convicted of murdering teenager Stephen Boachie in East London on New Year’s Day last year has been sentenced to life—with a judge’s recommendation that he’s booted out of Britain when his sentence is up.

The judge at the Old Bailey recommended that killer Chester Daudu serve a minimum of 14 years behind bars and be deported back to Nigeria on his release.

Daudu, who was 19 when he set out to kill his victim, will be 35 before he can even consider applying for parole.

He stabbed 17-year-old Stephen twice outside the Thatched House pub in Ripple-road, Barking, just five-and-a-half hours into the New Year—policed still don’t know the motive.

Stephen was found in a pool of blood on the forecourt of a petrol station close by at 5.30am and taken to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel.

But he died later that day, the first of 27 teenagers stabbed to death in London this year so far.

Det Ins Tim Wilkinson from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command, who led the murder hunt which finally brought Daudu to justice 18 months later, said: “It was clear he was armed with a blade and his intention to kill was formed in seconds.

“His reckless and violent actions that New Year’s Day resulted in the senseless killing of a boy with all his life ahead of him.

“Stephen’s family have lost a much-loved son and our thoughts are with them.”

Thursday’s Life sentence on Daudu comes at the height of the Metropolitan Police campaign to rid knife crime from the streets of London.

Stephen, who arrived in Britain just six years ago, was studying A-levels at Newham Sixth Form College to go on to university to take an engineering degree.

His father Kwasi Boachie, 51, said in an emotional statement: “It’s hard to accept we brought Stephen from Ghana to have a better education and prosperous future—but all that has been dashed by the act of a murderer in this craze of knife carrying gangs.

“How many more lives will have to be sacrifice before people realise killing never solved any human related problems?”

The innocuous row erupted after Stephen spoke to a girl outside the Thatched House club that Daudu had been out with that night.

Daudu then crossed the road to a BMW he had been sitting in earlier, crossed back again and stabbed Stephen twice, piercing his heart, before hurrying away from the scene in the car.

He was arrested more than two months later, living at Corporation-street in West Ham, and charged with murder.
