PAINTINGS gangster Ronnie Kray produced during his 30-year stretch go under the hammer on Saturday.

Seven oil paintings the gangland boss from London's East End created on prison issue card and stamped with his Parkhurst number are expected to fetch between £1,500 and £2,000 each.

They were given to a fellow inmate whose son has decided to put them up for auction.

"He had them for about 15 years and never realised that they were of any value," auctioneer James Mander revealed.

"The Krays used to swap the paintings for cigarettes and things.

"It's one of those names that everyone remembers and we're expecting some interest in them."

The sale at Mander Auctioneers at Clare in Suffolk on Saturday (July 26) also includes letters and sketches by Kray which were given to another inmate.

Three Kray paintings were auctioned in Lincoln last month, including one that fetched £1,500.
