Labour has won the Weavers seat in yesterday’s Tower Hamlets by-election, the council has just announced.
John Paul Pierce standing for Labour has won the seat after gaining 1,544 votes. He beat off Respect’s candidate Abjol Miah who came second with 1,260 votes.
In third place was the Conservative candidate, Caroline June Kershall, with 415 votes. The Green Party’s Alan Duffel came fourth with 373 votes.
The Liberal Democrat’s Azizur Rahman Khan came in fifth place with 208 votes. In last place came independent candidate Oli Rothschild with 36 votes.
The voter turn-out was 44.6 per cent.
