Laughter was the best medicine to counteract the gloomy effects of Blue Monday this week.
According to psychologists, Monday was “the most miserable day of the year” a combination of broken New Year’s resolutions, financial strains and typically poor weather.
To beat the blues, Old Spitalfields Market ran free laughter workshops from laughter experts Lisa Moon and Geffery Little, including laughter yoga and laughter games.
Ellie Barnatt of Old Spitalfields Market said: “Mondays are always bad enough and everyone’s already depressed enough because of the economy, so we thought what would Londoners rather do? Hide under the duvet. Feel depressed for the day? Or have a laugh over lunchtime that will hopefully carry them through the rest of the week.”
