A creative space for young people officially opens in Bow today with a state-of-the-art recording studio to get youngsters involved in the music industry with professionals.
The Spotlight studio project launched at the Eastside centre by Bow East youth service has found a demand for creative arts facilities after taking soundings in the community since December.
The youth service, part of Poplar Housing and Regeneration organisation which runs centres for 6,000 youngsters keeping them off the streets, has been given £5,000 by Clarion Housing Group to refurbish the Eastside building in Parnell Road where the studio has been set up.
“This gives young people professional-standard facilities,” Spotlight’s director Daniel Rose said. “It is linked to the ‘Spotlight Sounds’ record label, which has already unearthed much talent in the area.”
The record label gives youngsters a chance to work with professional producers in the new studio and get experience of the music industry.
