HUNDREDS of lecturers and students are expected to descend on Altab Ali Park today to protest about job cuts at Tower Hamlets College.

The protesters have organised the rally at the park in Whitechapel as part of their ongoing fight against the loss of 13 teaching posts along with cuts in English courses for speakers of other languages.

The protests will mark the seventeenth day of indefinite strike by members of the University and College Union (UCU) which has brought the college's campuses in Poplar, Bethnal Green and Stepney to a standstill.

The rally will kick off at 2pm when Bethnal Green & Bow MP George Galloway is due to address the striking lecturers.
