Justin Edinburgh is confident Leyton Orient can build more momentum in the National League over the Easter weekend.

The O’s visit Guiseley this afternoon (Friday) for a 3pm kick-off before entertaining Maidenhead United on Monday.

Both games represent a good chance for Orient to get more points after ending their recent poor run last weekend with a 3-0 success at home to Woking.

Edinburgh said: “We have to build more momentum. Saturday’s result meant consecutive clean sheets and four points from two games.

“We have a lot of teams in and around us now and these are the games we have to start winning and we need to understand the mentality we need at home.

“We are a scalp at Brisbane Road and I thought the boys dealt with that well on Saturday because after the performance and result against Torquay (1-0 loss), there was a lot of expected against Woking and they dealt with that, so credit to them.”

There has been pressure on Orient right from the outset this season with the E10 outfit a big club in the division.

It is the O’s first spell outside of the Football League and they have struggled with the tag and suffered some poor results, especially at Brisbane Road.

Head coach Edinburgh has seen positives signs though, not least during his first month in charge when they defeated the likes of Sutton United and Dagenham & Redbridge.

“Our players have to deal with a lot. There is a lot expected of us, but we are getting used to it and I’m drumming it into the players,” said the 48-year-old.

“We know what is expected. There are high standards at Leyton Orient and we have to keep reaching those standards.

“Doing that will take us forward and get us to where we want to be come the end of next season.”

The target come April next year is for Orient to be promoted and a positive final few weeks of the campaign will go some way to helping O’s begin the 2018/19 term with much-needed momentum.
