Ross Embleton reflects on the last meeting between O’s and Macclesfield and discusses what is at stake for the hosts on Saturday

Leyton Orient are keen to get some type of revenge on Macclesfield Town this weekend live on the BT Sport cameras according to the O’s assistant coach Ross Embleton.

The Brisbane Road outfit lost 1-0 to the Silkmen back on October 21 under the stewardship of Steve Davis in a game where the hosts enjoyed plenty of possession, but struggled to break down the solid defence of the away side.

It saw Macclesfield move three points clear at the top of the National League table and John Askey’s team have not looked back.

But with Justin Edinburgh now at the helm, Orient have enjoyed an upturn in results and after a 4-1 win over Barrow last weekend, they are eager to claim another on Saturday (12.30pm kick-off).

Embleton said: “If you look at the Barrow fixture, I think it is one we might have struggled with earlier in the season and I’m not sure we would have finished them off in the manner we did.

“I think it shows we have an edge about us now and this is a sterner Leyton Orient team going out on the pitch and we want to make the most of being on the TV.

“On a lot of occasions recently we are going up against teams who have either beaten us or taken points off us, so we need to make sure we return the favour.

“Everyone will know what is potentially at stake for the opposition, but we need to try and spoil the party.”

Macclesfield could seal the league title on Saturday if results go there way, but Embleton is determined to keep the champagne on ice.

He reflected on the previous clash in October and reiterated how this O’s team is a different proposition for league rivals.

“Yes, I’d like to think we can postpone their coronation as champions,” said Embleton. “I felt when we played them at home it was one of those beginning of the season Leyton Orient displays.

“We looked strong at times, but made mistakes and gave them the opportunity to take the points and we need to make sure we try and repay them on Saturday and keep the champagne on ice.”

After visiting Macclesfield, O’s will then travel to Hartlepool United on Tuesday (April 17) and they are another side to have won at Brisbane Road this season.

The Monkey Hangers triumphed 2-1 at Orient on September 16, so more revenge will be the order of the day for that evening against the lowly side.

Pools are only four points off the bottom four, so they will be desperate for the points and O’s will have to show more mettle over the next week to maintain their recent good form.
