The O’s will be desperate to claw back some pride after a disastrous Tuesday evening in Lancashire

Danny Webb knows League Two leaders Doncaster Rovers will put Leyton Orient under pressure from the off at Brisbane Road on Saturday, but hopes his young squad can bounce back.

O’s suffered their second heaviest defeat of the campaign on Tuesday night, as they went down 5-0 at Accrington Stanley.

With Newport County winning at Morecambe, Orient are now bottom ahead of facing Darren Ferguson’s title favourites this weekend.

“Doncaster will see the score from Tuesday and they will come at us all guns blazing,” said Webb.

“It is another test for everyone, myself and the club, so it certainly won’t be easy and we have to make sure we try our best to prove people wrong again.”

Webb has to find a way of lifting the morale of the Orient squad, which must be at an all-time low after suffering their 23rd league loss of the season in midweek.

The O’s were second best throughout at the Crown Ground and if the game had gone on longer it could have ended up even worse for the struggling east Londoners.

Relegation looks all but confirmed with Orient now seven points from safety with only nine fixtures still to play this season.

Webb added: “There are only so many whacks you can take and if it is not on the pitch then it is off it.

“The players are human beings and sometimes you do have a complete off-night and every game I have done before this we have always had sevens out of 10.

“Unfortunately at Accrington we were more fives or sixes, so when you have that many people having an off night it is difficult.

“But I still look at people like Michael Collins, who is a natural leader, and just kept going and going and going.

“That for me is a positive that we have players like that at the club, so they definitely won’t be throwing in the towel.”

Doncaster will be overwhelming favourites this weekend, but Orient will be desperate to claw back some pride after a disastrous Tuesday evening in Lancashire for everyone connected with the club.
