Orient make the trip to mid-table Fleet without a National League victory to their name since September 2

Steve Davis is looking for Leyton Orient to break their duck in front of the TV cameras this weekend when they visit Ebbsfleet United for a 5.30pm kick-off live on BT Sport.

The O’s have lost all three of their previous games broadcoast live in the National League this season – 2-0 at Sutton United on August 5, 2-1 at home to Hartlepool United on September 16 and 2-1 again away to Tranmere Rovers on October 4.

Davis will hope for better on Saturday at Stonebridge Road and the two clubs go into the clash off the back of FA Cup defeats.

Fleet suffered a 6-2 thrashing at home to Doncaster Rovers last weekend in the first round of the competition, while Orient lost 2-1 away to Gillingham.

“I was hoping it would be third time lucky, but hopefully it is fourth time now,” said Davis, when speaking about O’s record on BT Sport.

“We’ve not had too much success on the TV, although we played excellently against Hartlepool and lost.

“It is another game for us and we are taking it a game at a time now and we’ll look at what we can do for the game this week.”

A positive for Davis will be the number of players back for this weekend after Mark Ellis and James Brophy missed the loss at Gillingham.

Ellis and Brophy were not given permission by Carlisle United or Swindon Town respectively to play in the FA Cup and therefore they had to sit out the 2-1 defeat on Saturday.

Both will return at Ebbsfleet, while Jobi McAnuff (toe) and Dan Happe (ankle) should also be available for O’s, but Macauley Bonne misses out due to international duty following his call-up by Zimbabwe.

Joe Widdowson is also out through suspension following his red card for two bookable offences last weekend.

Nevertheless, Davis will look to give Orient’s loyal support something to cheer about on Saturday after seeing them back the team again at Gills.

A total of 818 O’s fans made the trip across the river to the Priestfield Stadium and they made themselves heard during the tie.

Davis added: “I think they are behind the team and can see we are giving our all in the games and especially on Saturday.

“The players gave everything they had at Gillingham and we produced some moments of quality and brilliance and their goalkeeper (Tomas Holy) had to make some terrific saves to keep them in it.

“I’m delighted with the crowd and following and they have never let us down this season in terms of the numbers they bring and the noise they generate, so long may that continue.”
