George Sessions provides player ratings following the 3-1 victory over Stevenage on Tuesday night
Paul McCallum grabbed a brace and Sandro Semedo scored his first for Leyton Orient to cap a good Tuesday night for the east Londoners.
Stevenage made the trip to Brisbane Road for a Southern Group G fixture in the English Football League Trophy.
Like two weeks prior in League Two, they departed E10 with no points to show and with O’s brimming with confidence come the final whistle.
Sam Sargeant (6) – Teenager dealt with shots well, but committed himself too much for Stevenage’s goal. Good experience, however, and one he’ll learn from.
Nicky Hunt (7) – Oldest player on the pitch for Orient and once again led by example, solid performance at right-back.
Aron Pollock (6) – Decent display by youngster, having endured a tough time against Fulham at start of month. Looked composed and although he struggled at times in the air, was more solid.
Tom Parkes (7) – Ex-Bristol Rovers captain is growing more confident with every passer game and helped command back four well.
Callum Kennedy (7.5) – Excellent display by the former AFC Wimbledon man and great to hear his on pitch talking all the way up in the press box. Spoke impressively throughout and linked up well with Semedo.
Harry Cornick (9) – A simply sensational showing from the 21-year-old and all that was missing was a goal. Two brilliant assists and played his part in the opener. Cherries loanee was so close to producing a fine solo effort as well – top drawer!
Robbie Weir (7.5) – Much better from the O’s skipper after battling illness earlier this month. He was energetic and kept the ball moving in midfield, and swept up nicely in front of defence.
Nigel Atangana (6.5) – Slightly sluggish performance from Frenchmen, caught on the ball a few times, but was struggling with injury.
Sandro Semedo (8) – After a difficult time at left-back, fantastic to see Portuguese winger in his usual position and he was excellent. He showed great confidence to attempt volley, which ended up in back of the net, too.
Paul McCallum (8) – Forward’s movement in the box is exceptional and demonstrated his finishing prowess with two goals. Importantly looked fit and strong in final exchanges as well.
Jordan Bowery (7) – No goals to show for his effort, but pleasing display and picked up assist for opener. Yet to find his shooting boots, although I believe he will fairly soon.
Substitutes:
Liam Kelly, for Atangana 46. (7) – Ex-Oldham Athletic skipper looks on top form at the moment and just helped O’s dominate midfield even more.
Sam Dalby, for Bowery 74. (6) – Only 16-years-old, but as Andy Hessenthaler pointed out afterwards, made some good runs in his cameo.
Josh Koroma, for Cornick 78. (6) – Just 12 minutes to make an impact and boy did he do that. Plenty of tricks and flicks from talented attacker.
