Jacob Ranson provides player ratings following the 2-0 win against Barnet at Brisbane Road

Leyton Orient started life under head coach Ian Hendon with a win as two second half goals helped defeat London rivals Barnet on Saturday.

Jay Simpson opened the scoring at Brisbane Road in the 74th minute before Paul McCallum doubled that lead less than 60 seconds later.

The atmosphere in E10 was fantastic throughout and the O’s supporters went home happy after seeing their side register an opening day win.

Alex Cisak (6) - The Orient keeper had a fairly quiet afternoon, but when he was called upon he made crucial saves in the first half to stop Barnet taking an early lead. Former Burnley man did struggle a few times with his kicks, though, as some ended up in the stands.

Sean Clohessy (7) – Right-back fitted straight into the squad as he linked up well with Bradley Pritchard and bombed down the wing numerous times on his Orient debut. He also put some brilliant crosses into the box.

Connor Essam (6.5) – Young centre-back dealt with his debut very well, not getting beaten very often even despite Barnet pressing very hard in the first half. In the second half the defender didn’t see as much action.

Mathieu Baudry (6.5) - The newly appointed skipper couldn’t have wished for a much harder task than marking Barnet striker John Akinde. The Frenchman was outmuscled a few times by the striker, but made some vital last ditch tackles to stop Barnet breaking through.

Frazer Shaw (6.5) - For a first league appearance, the young left-back didn’t look fazed by very much, and was pretty solid defensively - although he stayed back a few times when he could have joined the attack.

Lloyd James (6) - Lloyd showed real leadership playing just in front of the back four, talking to all of his midfield and taking control. The Welshman didn’t put in his best display, but he was crucial in getting the three points.

Bradley Pritchard (8) - The Zimbabwean showed real class and cemented his place in the team after that performance. He showed a great work ethic, making sure to win every ball, which created chances for the O’s. His never give up attitude was key.

Sammy Moore (5.5) – It wasn’t the best performance to start off with at his new club. The midfielder looked solid at times, but didn’t seem to be moving enough for the diamond formation to get it’s full effect, plus the new boy struggled with a few of his passes on the afternoon.

Dean Cox (7) - The fan favourite didn’t cause too much trouble for the Barnet defence in the first half, but as the game went on, and he got familiar with the top two, he created more and more in attack.

Jay Simpson (7) - Former Arsenal man showed his class with his movement causing real problems for the big Barnet defenders. The striker worked hard and linked up well with his partner McCallum, and it showed as they both found the target.

Paul McCallum (7) - Great debut for the striker, scoring on his debut for the club, and winning lots in the air. The former West Ham youngster showed real potential and linked up with Simpson brilliantly.
