Leyton Orient threw away a two-goal lead to ensure even if results elsewhere had gone their way, they still would have gone down on Sunday.

Lloyd James won the Brisbane Road outfit a penalty in the 18th minute and Tyrell Belford was sent off in the process, but the O’s midfielder had his effort saved.

Dean Cox did finally put Fabio Liverani’s team in front five minutes before the break after they had dominated the first half.

Chris Dagnall extended that two minutes into the second period, but once Anton Rodgers pulled one back for Swindon Town on the hour mark the visitors crumbled.

It seemed only a matter of time before the hosts equalised and Luke O’Neill gave away a penalty, which Andy Williams converted, to give Robins a point and make it a sorry day for the E10 club and their supporters.

Alex Cisak (7) – He couldn’t do anything about both Swindon goals, but did spill an effort first half. The on-loan goalkeeper made some important saves throughout the match.

Luke O’Neill (6) – A good attacking presence in the first half especially, but did nearly put team in trouble with poor back pass and gave away late penalty.

Nathan Clarke (7) – Orient captain was dominant in the air and used the ball well when he needed too.

Mathieu Baudry (6) – Frenchman was first to several balls, but gave away poor foul which allowed Swindon to pull one back and seemed shaky afterwards.

Elliot Omozusi (7) – Solid display from right-back slotting in on the opposite side of defence. He linked up well with Cox.

Josh Wright (6) – Midfielder worked hard, but failed to make the most of a couple of opportunities in advanced areas. He did, however, play a good pass for James to win penalty.

Lloyd James (6) – Mixed afternoon for Welshman as he won O’s a penalty, but had his spot-kick saved. Good ball in lead up to second goal.

Marvin Bartley (7) – A strong performance from midfielder, who worked extremely hard and made various intelligent runs.

Jay Simpson (8) – Wide forward was a massive threat in the first half and helped create several chances. He faded in second period, though, and was substituted.

Dean Cox (8) – Winger was constant menace for the Robins and always looked like doing something – therefore no surprise he opened scoring. He came close to getting a second and was excellent. Man of the match.

Chris Dagnall (7) – Super finish by forward to put O’s two up and as usual worked extremely hard, but did miss decent chance to score late on.

Substitutes:

Shane Lowry, for Omozusi 55. (6) – Left-back didn’t provide much in attack and was under pressure at other end.

Jobi McAnuff, for Simpson 73. (6) – He failed to make his mark on this game, but wasn’t given long enough.

Scott Cuthbert, for Cox 81.
