George Sessions provides player ratings following the 3-0 defeat away to Crewe Alexandra in League Two on Saturday
After staving off relegation over the Easter weekend, it finally caught up with Leyton Orient on Saturday at Crewe Alexandra.
Omer Riza’s inexperienced team suffered a 3-0 defeat at Gresty Road and therefore their 112-year stay in the Football League came to an end.
Crewe were the better side throughout and thoroughly deserved their victory, as O’s fate was sealed with two games to go.
Sam Sargeant (6.5) – Unlucky with opener as Callum Ainley’s effort took a deflection and the third was a good strike, but he may have done better with the second. Other than goals, teen made some decent saves and remained focused throughout.
Michael Clark (6) – Youngster could have closed Callum Cooke down better for first goal, but again put in a fairly solid display out of position and stood up well to the constant pressure after the break.
Aron Pollock (6.5) – Decent showing again from young centre back and he made quite a few blocks to ensure the margin of defeat wasn’t heavier at Gresty Road.
Tom Parkes (6.5) – Most experienced defender in back four didn’t close George Cooper down well enough for third, but made several fine tackles in first-half and showed character in second half to try and stop Crewe scoring more goals.
Sandro Semedo (5) – Tough day at office for Portuguese winger and warning signs were there inside first couple of minutes. Lost Ryan Wintle for second and wasn’t at his best.
Teddy Mezague (4.5) – Another poor display by Frenchman and he made some bizarre decisions during his 45-minute appearance – the highlight being a chipped back pass to Sargeant’s neck. Simply not good enough.
Michael Collins (5) – Early whack to his eye affected his game and he struggled to win the midfield battle, as Crewe dominated the middle of the park.
Henry Ochieng (5) – Lost Ainley for opener and couldn’t influence proceedings as much as he would have liked, as the Railwaymen failed to give him and his fellow O’s team-mates a seconds rest on ball.
Steven Alzate (5.5) – Difficult afternoon for supremely talented teenager. He was closed down quickly whenever Orient got him in possession and he couldn’t show off his attacking threat.
Victor Adeboyejo (5) – After impressing on Monday, the powerful forward didn’t hold the ball up enough at Crewe or provide an outlet when O’s were struggling.
Tristan Abrahams (5.5) – Talented striker looked to make an impact, but couldn’t get on ball enough and when he did, he often had limited options.
Substitutes:
Paul McCallum, for Mezague 46. (5.5) – Game was over by time he was introduced and although he won a few headers, he couldn’t turn tide of contest.
Josh Koroma, for Collins 46. (5.5) – One decent run down the right, but had nobody to pass to and had to focus more on defending than attacking.
Sam Dalby, for Adeboyejo 74. (5) – Little time to make an impression and both sides were going through motions when he was introduced.
