George Sessions provides player ratings following the 1-1 draw with Wycombe Wanderers
Leyton Orient hit back to draw with League One title rivals Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday at Brisbane Road with Jay Simpson scoring his sixth goal of the season.
The former Arsenal man slotted home after good work by substitutes Blair Turgott and Ollie Palmer.
Both made a big impact on the match against the Chairboys, but Ian Hendon’s side were unable to find a second goal and had to settle for a point.
Alex Cisak (7) – A shaky moment midway through the first half when he came for a cross and got it wrong, but made an excellent double save after a poor Lloyd James back pass.
Clohessy (7) – Full-back made a rash challenge early on, which earned him a booking, but did well to keep his composure afterwards.
Shaw (6.5) – Youngster tried to get forward as much as he could, but struggled to deliver any crosses of real quality. Defended strongly throughout match.
Baudry (7) – Important clearance off the line when Cisak failed to punch clear a free kick and made key block in first half too. He wasn’t required as much in second period.
Essam (7) – Another solid display by the centre-back and slightly unlucky for opening goal, but won majority of balls in the air other than that.
James (6) – Midfielder struggled to get on the ball as much as he likes. He did help create one decent opportunity, but also made poor back pass. Replaced at the break.
Payne (8) – Top performance from the Peterborough United midfielder and showed his fitness by making crucial block in stoppage time. He kept the O’s ticking over and helped dominate midfield in the second period.
Moore (7.5) – Former AFC Wimbledon ace was full of energy as usual and came close to scoring in the first half. He battled hard and linked up nicely with Payne.
Cox (6.5) – Orient’s talisman wasn’t as influential as normal, but still managed to produce a few moments of real quality.
McCallum (6) – Starting strongly by winning some headers, but faded and was replaced early on in second half.
Simpson (7.5) – The O’s top goalscorer became more influential as the match wore on and took his goal brilliantly. He might have had a second, though, but for a fine save by Wycombe’s Matt Ingram.
SUBS
Palmer, for James 45. (7.5) – A wonderful display by the big forward. He used his strength brilliantly against the Chairboys back four and his endeavour helped produce the equaliser.
Turgott, for McCallum 56. (7) – His impact was slightly overshadowed by Palmer, but former West Ham winger was impressive against Wycombe and picked out Simpson for equaliser and came close to scoring the winner too.
