George Sessions provides player ratings following the 3-1 win against Notts County
Leyton Orient got back to winning ways after scoring twice in the final 10 minutes at Brisbane Road to defeat Notts County 3-1 on Saturday.
Sammy Moore scored twice and Jay Simpson netted his seventh of the campaign to ensure the Magpies returned home empty-handed.
Ian Hendon’s team led at half time, but conceded less than a minute into the second period with Jon Stead beating Alex Cisak.
But the O’s stayed in the game and picked up all three points after a stunning move created the second for Simpson before Moore fired in from long range.
Alex Cisak (7) – The Australian wasn’t expected to be available, but showed his worth with an excellent block from Notts County substitute Adam Campbell when the scoreline was 1-1. Crucial save by the Orient number one.
Sean Clohessy (7) – His attacking instincts ensured Hendon would be celebrating as he bombed forward to assist the second goal, but that also meant he was out of position for the equaliser.
Mathieu Baudry (8) – Outstanding game by the captain, who took a nasty blow to the forehead but carried on to lead by example. He didn’t make any mistakes and was impressive, especially in the air winning so much from offensive set pieces.
Connor Essam (7.5) – Solid display by the young defender, who bounced back from the defeat against Carlisle United on Tuesday. Again he should have scored, but was pulled down inside the box. No idea how referee missed that.
Adam Chicksen (7) – Decent second debut for the Brighton & Hove Albion left-back. Biggest compliment was that he did his job with the minimum of fuss and settled back four.
Jack Payne (7) – Ignored opportunity to shoot early on, but played well again and nearly created the second for Ollie Palmer before being replaced.
Sammy Moore (8.5) – Strong performance by the former AFC Wimbledon man and this time he capped it with some goals. The second was special, but the first was also taken smartly. Man of the match and showed great character and commitment to continue despite taking a big blow on the knee.
Bradley Pritchard (7) – The midfielder did well to create the opener with a clever chip, but should have done a lot better with the equaliser as Alan Smith just shoved him to play the free kick quickly. Overall, though, he did well again.
Dean Cox (7) – Orient’s talisman couldn’t get into the game too much, had a few efforts, but always look a threat and worked hard for the cause.
Jay Simpson (7) – The forward was very quiet, should have scored in first half and had a few other chances. But like any good player, was in the right place at right time to score crucial second.
Ollie Palmer (6.5) – The big man put in a better display compared to the one he delivered against Carlisle United, but should have scored early in second half.
Substitutes:
Blair Turgott, for Payne 60 (7) – Orient’s super sub keeps doing his bit off the bench. He had an opportunity to score, but hit the side netting before playing big part in well worked second goal. He is getting closer to a first league start.
