Leyton Orient made it back-to-back wins by defeating Grimsby Town 2-1 on Saturday, but for long spells of the game it didn’t look like ending that way.

The Mariners dominated the first half, with the wind in their favour, and created numerous opportunities, they just couldn’t take them.

Andy Hessenthaler’s side held firm and goals from Liam Kelly and Ollie Palmer after the break gave them the points despite Dominic Vose’s late consolation.

Alex Cisak (7) – Australian was in fine form, making several key saves and handling difficult conditions well.

Nicky Hunt (6) – Struggled at times against Ashley Chambers and was close to giving penalty away, but improved as match progressed.

Yvan Erichot (6) – Shaky in the first half and found it tricky against the strong wind, although settled down after the break.

Tom Parkes (7) – Another excellent display by ex-Bristol Rovers man, looked assured throughout and commanded the back four well.

Sandro Semedo (6) – Tried to overplay on a few occasions and got caught out, not his best of performances in left-back role.

Liam Kelly (7) – Former Oldham Athletic captain is having bigger impact now, worked hard at Blundell Park and got reward by scoring his first for the club.

Nigel Atangana (7) – Recovered from shin problem to put in battling display in centre of midfield alongside stand-in skipper.

Gavin Massey (6) – Was difficult for winger in first half, but his presence increased after the break and he looked more threatening.

Dean Cox (6) – Frustrating afternoon for O’s talisman in role just behind striker, couldn’t get on ball enough and was replaced.

Harry Cornick (6) – After an excellent showing on Tuesday, AFC Bournemouth loanee found it tough at Grimsby.

Jordan Bowery (7) – Played the lone forward role well, kept ball as best he could and looked dangerous, especially in second half.

Substitutes:

Ollie Palmer, for Cox 72. (7) – Ex-Mariners striker got a good reception from home fans, but they wouldn’t have been happy to see him find the net. Good cameo.
