Leyton Orient dropped into the League Two relegation places after tasting defeat at home to Crewe Alexandra on Saturday following a lacklustre showing.

It is the lowest position the east Londoners have been since September 27 2003, as pointed out by Matt Bristow, when they were 23rd in the old Division Three.

First half goals from George Cooper and Harry Davis put the Railwaymen in control and they were never threatened after the break.

Alex Cisak (7) – A crucial save at Hartlepool United last week and was again in top form against Crewe, couldn’t do anything about the two goals and made a couple of excellent stops including one from ex-O’s striker Chris Dagnall.

Jens Janse (4) – Dutch defender had a terrible day, his poor clearance allowed Cooper to score the opener and made so many mistakes all afternoon with some of his crosses utterly dreadful.

Nicky Hunt (5.5) – Not the best match for the ex-Bolton Wanderers right-back, he could have done better for first goal and struggled in heart of Orient’s back four.

Tom Parkes (5) – Like the rest of his team-mates didn’t have a good time against Crewe’s attacking line-up and was caught on the ball a lot, yet made excellent clearance off the line when it was 1-0.

Callum Kennedy (5.5) – Been one of O’s most consistent performers in recent weeks, but didn’t have a great first 45, although improved slightly after half time.

Gavin Massey (5) – Another disappointing display from ex-Colchester United winger, looked void of ideas and failed to get on the ball enough when Orient needed him.

Nigel Atangana (7) – Tireless performance from the central midfielder, tried his best to get Orient on front foot and put a real shift in before shock substitution in 73rd minute.

Robbie Weir (5) – Bad day for the skipper, passing wasn’t accurate enough from the start and struggled to lead from the front during turgid second half.

Sandro Semedo (5.5) – Portuguese winger looked good in opening 20 minutes and got in a couple of crosses, but soon lost his confidence and faded badly.

Jordan Bowery (5) – Former Aston Villa striker won a couple of headers, though was hardly involved in first half and was hauled off at the break.

Ollie Palmer (6) – Typical hard working display from forward and did test Ben Garrett in second half, but was feeding off scraps and not helped by formation.

Substitutes:

Michael Collins, for Bowery 46. (6.5) – Rare bright spot for O’s, new signing looked very capable and did his best to get them moving forward, although to little avail.

Ulrich Nnomo, for Massey 73. (6) – French winger actually looked quite dangerous when he came on and delivered one decent cross before suffering injury.

Jay Simpson, for Atangana 73. (5) – Very little time to make an impact, although it might have been easier had the man he replaced still been on the pitch.
