Leyton Orient have bid farewell to more young players this week as head coach Justin Edinburgh continues to make plans for next season.

Michael Clark and Henry Ochieng left the O’s by mutual consent this afternoon after struggling for game time during the campaign.

Ochieng signed his first professional deal with the club in December 2016, after making his debut a month earlier at Brighton & Hove Albion’s under-23s in the English Football League Trophy.

The midfielder went on to make seven appearances in the 2016/17 season and made a further six outings during the current campaign, but has not featured since the 1-0 loss at Solihull Moors on December 2.

Clark signed his first pro deal with Orient last summer after making his debut in February 2017 at Stevenage.

He made nine appearances for O’s last season and made three more this time around, but has now moved on.

The duo follow in the footsteps of Aron Pollock, Freddy Moncur and Jamie Sendles-White in leaving Orient since the winter transfer window shut.

Although many fans will be disappointed to see two academy graduates leave, it could benefit them both going forward.

Edinburgh has plenty of competition for places in both central midfield and the centre of defence and the pair need to play football regularly.

Clark has again proved to be dependable during a recent loan spell with East Thurrock United and will most likely sign permanently with the National League South side.

Ochieng hasn’t played a competitive minute of football since December 2 though, and where he ends up now is up for debate.

Clark later added: “I just wanted to say a big thank you to the players, staff and fans who helped me along the way during my 11 year journey at Leyton Orient.

“That journey has now come to an end, but I’m looking forward to starting a new chapter.

“I’m truly grateful for everything the club has done for me whilst being such a huge part of my life over the years and wish them all the best for the future.”
