Winger reflects on playing in fourth tier of English football for the first time in his career
Leyton Orient’s new signing Gavin Massey had no qualms about playing in League Two this season despite never playing in the division before.
The 23-year-old was in League One last year with Colchester United, but was unable to prevent them from suffering relegation.
Massey made the switch to east London last month and was just happy to join an ambitious club. He said: “At the end of the day I got relegated so I’m a League Two player.
“I see it as a good move in the same division. I was always going to play in this league whether it had been with Colchester or somebody else.

“This is my first time playing in League Two so it will probably be a bit more physical and direct from some teams.
“I’m kind of used to it from League One and it won’t change my game, well hopefully I can score more goals in this division and set more up.”

The ex-Watford youngster discussed what attracted him to Orient and his hopes for the season ahead.
Massey had several clubs interested, but felt a transfer to Brisbane Road was perfect and just what he needed.
“Orient put across to me their ambition to get out of the division and it’ll be nice to play for a team with those aims,” said the former Colchester United winger.
“Hopefully we can win football games and get out of League Two. They matched my targets and hopefully I can achieve that with them.
“I knew there was some clubs looking at me and obviously when I heard Orient were interested I thought it was a perfect move for me.
“I needed a change from Colchester and I see this club is going in the right direction so I thought it was the perfect move.”
