Find out how Josh Doherty, Michael Clark, Freddy Moncur and Sam Roach have been getting on at other non-league clubs recently

Last Saturday wasn’t a bad day for everybody associated with Leyton Orient as some of the players out on loan shone.

Sammy Moore was playing in the division below the O’s, in the National League, for Dover Athletic.

The Whites made the long trip to York City last weekend and achieved a historic victory at Bootham Crescent.

It was the first-ever meeting between Dover and the Minstermen and Moore impressed during the 86 minutes he played before being substituted.

The ex-AFC Wimbledon midfielder is now setting his sights on taking on Lincoln City at the Crabble Athletic Ground on Saturday.

There was also reason to celebrate for Josh Doherty as he represented National League North outfit Altrincham.

Doherty helped the Robins beat Gainsborough Trinity 3-2 in the second qualifying round of the FA Cup.

Orient’s young left-back played the full 90 minutes and made an important tackle deep into injury time to ensure Altrincham progressed.

Next up for Doherty is a home clash with Boston United this weekend and the Northern Ireland under-21 international will hope to get more minutes under his belt.

Meanwhile Michael Clark couldn’t prevent East Thurrock losing to National League South rivals Whitehawk in the FA Cup.

The young defender played the whole match at Rookery Hill, but Rocks lost 3-2 to exit the competition.

Clark and East Thurrock will aim to bounce back on Saturday when they host Bishop’s Stortford.

Freddy Moncur has had a mixed time at Wingate & Finchley over the last seven days in two different competitions.

Orient’s talented youngster started last weekend’s FA Cup match at home to Tonbridge Angels.

But the visitors were two goals to the good after 56 minutes and Moncur was subbed off on the hour mark as it finished 3-0.

Wingate and the O’s midfielder bounced back on Tuesday night, though, as he helped the north Londoners win 1-0 at Harrow Borough in the Ryman Premier.

Moncur is now bracing himself for two home fixtures this week - the first on Saturday against Lowestoft Town.

And then on Tuesday night, Kingstonian will visit the Harry Abrahams Stadium for a league encounter.

The busiest person associated with Orient over the past week, however, has been goalkeeper Sam Roach.

It all started for the youngster last Wednesday when he lined up for Barkingside against Wadham Lodge in the Essex Senior League, but they lost 2-0.

While that result didn’t go to plan, Roach bounced back with a clean sheet on Saturday at London Bari to help Side win 1-0.

Just two days later, on Monday, the O’s goalkeeper was between the sticks again for a clash with Ilford.

And although he kept another clean sheet, it wasn’t enough to earn Barkingside all three points as the match finished goalless at Cricklefields.

Roach will hope history can repeat itself on Saturday as Side travel to Bari again for a second qualifying round FA Vase tie looking to make his mark again.
