National League: Leyton Orient 3 Solihull Moors 0

Leyton Orient made it nine games unbeaten and moved into second place in the National League after securing a 3-0 victory against 10-man Solihull Moors.

Goals from Charlie Lee, Macauley Bonne and substitute Matt Harrold secured a third straight win and another three points to continue the O’s impressive start to the new campaign at the Breyer Group Stadium.

Manager Justin Edinburgh named an unchanged for the fifth consecutive match after making it eight games unbeaten with a 1-0 victory against Chesterfield on the weekend.

While, Tim Flowers made two changes to his side that sealed a 2-1 win against Barrow on the weekend, with Jamey Osborne and Jermaine Hylton dropping to the bench with Luke Maxwell and Corey O’Keefe coming in to replace the duo.

The first chance of the match fell to the in-form Josh Koroma who drove a shot on from 25 yards after Macauley Bonne laid it off for his striker partner in the third minute.

The hosts had their second chance six minutes later when Myles Judd crossed a ball into the box and found Koroma but his header went wide of the goal.

Solihull then broke down the pitch and striker Danny Wright ended up breaking clear and firing a shot across the goal from the right but Dean Brill got his hand to it.

In the 12th minute the ball almost bounced into the net as Marvin Ekpiteta got his head to a long throw from Charlie Lee.

A minute later Brill had to be on hand to make back-to-back saves to deny Corey O’Keefe and Moors captain Kyle Storer.

Solihull started being more physical and it led to more chances for the visitors and Ekpiteta flew in and stuck his body on the line to block a close range effort.

Not long after Adi Yussuf broke clear, Ekpiteta once again getting back and lying down on the ground alongside keeper Brill to block the striker out from going round the pair and firing into the open goal.

After multiple battles another big challenge between Ekpiteta and Yussuf led to a coming together.

Both players were eventually booked after it got feisty and they went head on head in the 29th minute.

Ten minutes later Craig Clay and Judd both cleared their lines with some strong clearances to deny Solihull.

Orient finally broke the deadlock in the third minute of added time in the first-half as Charlie Lee nodded home a corner from captain Jobi McAnuff.

Solihull’s left-back Jamie Reckford goes in late three times in a row in the early stages of the second-half.

The first one where he took out Dayton he got away with it but was then booked for bringing down Judd and then only minutes later goes in for almost the same challenge and Koroma, picking up his second yellow, and given his marching orders in the 55th minute.

In the 64th minute Solihull had a chance to equalise when their captain Storer drilled a shot from the edge of the box on target but Brill got his hand to it and sent it wide for a corner.

Fifthteen minutes later right-back Judd made a great run up the pitch and curled in a lovely ball for Bonne who had his effort denied by Boot and pushed out for a corner.

Bonne doubled his side’s lead with four minutes left in the match as he slotted the ball home at the back post after Koroma played it across the goal to his strike partner to make it 2-0 and secure the win.

But they didn’t settle for two as substitute Matt Harrold tucked home a rebound to make it 3-0 after Judd released Bonne who had his effort blocked by Boot.
