The O’s will play a lot of local teams plus travel to Portugal for a seven-day training camp and it appears a good schedule for Justin Edinburgh’s side

Leyton Orient have wasted little time arranging their pre-season schedule for this summer with the club finalising all their plans.

This time in 2017 there was a lot of uncertainty about the whole club, but it couldn’t be a more different story this time around.

Earlier this month the O’s began to announce plans for pre-season and everything is completed now for Justin Edinburgh’s team.

Like last year, they will start plans for the 2018/19 campaign with a friendly at Bostik Premier club Harlow Town, who play on a 3G pitch.

The match at the Harlow Arena will be on July 7 and will start at 3pm and Orient will hope to register another 6-1 success like in 2017.

After the friendly against the Essex outfit, O’s will visit Portugal for a seven-day camp at Albufeira with a pre-season match against Benfica B to take place on July 14.

Orient will return to the UK on July 15 and two days later will travel to National League South outfit East Thurrock United for a 7.45pm kick-off.

The O’s have built up a good relationship with the Rocks in recent years and last season loaned ex-defender Michael Clark to John Coventry’s side and then signed centre back Marvin Ekpiteta from the Essex club in January.

A few days later and Orient will come up against another familiar face as they travel to Concord Rangers, also of the National League South, who are now managed by former midfielder Sammy Moore.

Fellow ex-O’s players Sean Clohessy and Frazer Shaw are part of the Beach Boys squad so they will come up against their old side on July 21 while Moore will manage against Orient in the 3pm kick-off.

On July 24, the Edinburgh’s team will play their first game of the 2018/19 campaign at Brisbane Road as Southend United visit for a 7.45pm start.

The League One outfit, who are managed by Chris Powell, will provide stern opposition for the O’s in what is set to be their penultimate pre-season game of the summer.

Orient’s final clash ahead of the new National League campaign, which begins on August 4, is an away fixture at St Albans City, also of the National League South, on July 28 (3pm kick-off).

On paper, it looks a strong pre-season schedule for O’s with competitive games against East Thurrock, Concord Rangers and St Albans to come plus tricky fixtures with Benfica B and rivals Southend.
