Leyton Orient are set to face Arsenal under-23s in their final pre-season fixture this evening.

The O’s will play their first game at Brisbane Road this campaign and are expected to rotate the team from the one who faced Billericay Town on Saturday.

Head coach Steve Davis is hoping the fixture can give his side extra minutes ahead of their National League opener away to Sutton United.

“Obviously we’re looking again towards next week,” he said.

“It’s minutes on our own pitch and we’ve haven’t been on that pitch yet, so minutes for all the players, some of the players that started today and try get some minutes into other players.

“There going to need another spell and game time because we’re going to need them, we’ve got a lot of games in August.

“We’re going to need the squad.”

Newly-appointed first team captain Charlie Lee could miss out again after missing the match against Billericay Town with a slight knock.

“He just jarred his knee a little bit in training, he scuffed the ground and jarred the knee on the outside.

“We don’t want to risk it at this stage in the season.”

The Brisbane Road head coach Steve Davis also praised the way his side linked up against the Bostik Premier Division outfit.

Davis was delighted with the goals and the way his side managed the game once picking up the lead this weekend.

“I thought both goals were really nice moves, for the first one some of the movement and passing was super and we deserved the finish at the end of it.

“It was very pleasing to the eye.”

The 51-year-old also admitted new signing Jake Caprice could be a real danger for the O’s this season.

“We don’t stop him getting forward because we know how quick he is and how capable he is, so if he can keep getting to those positions during the season, then he will cause teams problems.”

He was also pleased with the way they managed the game despite allowing a sloppy goal in just before half-time.

“It’s something we spoke about, probably the only chance they had apart from the free-kick was hitting the post.

“They didn’t really create much and the goal was our own doing really, it was a short pass I think from one of our players and then we misjudged the cross into the box, I thought we had a couple opportunities to clear it and it was a scrambly goal, but that’s going to happen, when we pass around like we do there is going to be some errors in the games.

“Especially in pre-season, so hopefully we can cut one or two of those out when we start the season.”
