Hendon confident of adding to squad
Leyton Orient head coach Ian Hendon fully expects to make more additions to his squad for the new League Two campaign.
The Brisbane Road club are currently being linked with a move for Peterborough captain Jack Payne, while Welsh international Danny Gabbidon played for 45 minutes of Saturday’s 3-0 friendly win at Colchester.
Frazer Shaw and Connor Essam remain on trial with O’s, who have brought in Sean Clohessy, Paul McCallum, Sammy Moore and Blair Turgott so far.
And Hendon said: “We are going to be making signings for sure. There’s a lot of work going on behind the scenes, but when we look at the squad, the senior players, we need additions.
You may also want to watch:
“They’ve got to be the right additions. We’re not going to take players willy-nilly, they’ve got to fit what we need and how we play.
“But there is a few out there we are dealing with and I’m sure they’re going to be in for the start of the season.

“If they take a little longer, they take a little longer.
“On what we’ve seen today (at Colchester), I’d be quite happy if that was my squad going into the first game.”
McCallum netted twice at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, with headers either side of the break, to take his pre-season tally to five goals.
And substitute Scott Kashket produced a composed finish for the third Orient goal after replacing McCallum.
Former West Ham centre-back Gabbidon replaced Essam during the interval and looked comfortable alongside Mathieu Baudry.
Hendon added: “Danny’s an excellent pro and brings a wealth of experience. We’re having a look at him, he’s having a look at us, and we’ll see what happens.
“I don’t really want to be bringing too many trialists in now, it’s about concentrating on the 8th of August.
“I don’t really want too many disruptions to what we’ve got. I want to keep them all together.
“There maybe one or two (trialists), but probably after the Woking game that will be it.”
Orient visit Woking tomorrow (Tuesday) and have further friendlies against Bishop’s Stortford and Southend at the weekend.
