Bank staff rolled their sleeves up and dug deep into the dirt to help plant the idea of rejuvenating a community garden in London’s East End.
They joined members of Bethnal Green’s Zander Court garden club to refurbish the open space at Elver Gardens.
The team got into their stride putting dozens of plants in the ground within two hours.
“I can’t believe the speed they worked at,” said gardening club member Catherine Tidnam. “The bank volunteers have been great and haven’t stopped.”
It was part of Lloyds Banking Group’s contribution to the national ‘Give and Gain’ day when employees volunteer to help the community, which last year saw 19,000 from nearly 400 companies around the country spend the day on neighbourhood projects or events.
